Thees colorful cookies that instantly makes people smile
They are soft and airy on the inside, slightly crisp on the outside, and covered in beautiful crackled sugar that gives them their signature look and slightly crisp texture.
I made these for my Mother’s Day cookie box this year because I wanted something playful and bright next to my floral cookies — and they turned out even prettier than I imagined.
The best part?
They’re beginner-friendly, fun to customize, and absolutely perfect for gifting.
Why You’ll Love These Cookies
*Fun to customize with different colors & flavors
*Bright and eye-catching
*Soft and chewy texture
*Easy recipe for beginners
*Perfect for cookie boxes or parties
Tools You’ll Need
You don’t need fancy equipment to make these cookies.
- Basic tools:
- Mixing bowl
- Hand mixer or stand mixer
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper
- Cookie scoop or spoon
- Cooling rack
- Gel food coloring (one -3 colors)
- Edible Flavoring Essence (I used Marshmallow, blueberry and peach)
- Gloves (to prevent color staining)
INGREDIENTS

For the cookies:
- 240g Butter or Margarine
- 200g White Granulated Sugar
- 260g Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoon Vanilla
- 550g All Purpose Flour
- 3 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Large Eggs
- Optional ( peach, blueberry & marshmallow essence)
For decorating:
- 160g Icing Sugar
- 260g White Sugar
- Optional (Gel Colors – orange, blue & red)

STEP-BY-STEP METHOD
1. Oven & Cookie Dough

Because these cookies does not need time in the fridge to chill, now is a good time to put the oven on 180°Celsius (350F) and continue making the cookie dough as these come together really fast.
Start by using soft butter or margarine, add the white and brown sugar and mix together with a hand or stand mixer until light in color.
2.Beat Sugar, Butter & Essence

Add in the eggs and mix again until light and fluffy, you will actually see the color of the mixture go lighter.
3. Add dry ingredients

Directly to the sugar mixture, add the flour, baking powder and salt, then beat until combine, but do not over mix.
4. Divide and Color

Divide the dough into 3 different bowls, each adding the different color and flavor you chose to use. Mix the dough until each dough bowl has been colored with no streaks showing.
5. Sugar Dip, Roll and Bake

Combine the Extra Sugar and Icing Sugar you were left with.
Roll out about a teaspoon size of dough from each color you made and dip the cookie dough ball into the sugar and icing mixture, once you have done all, come back and dip each cookie dough in the sugar again. Trust me it will make the crinkle of the cookie so much better.
Slightly press each dough ball a little flat and put them in the oven without chilling them. Baking for 12minutes.
6. Bake
Bake at 180°C for 10–12 minutes. I baked mine for 12minutes until they just turn golden brown at the bottom. Please let your cookies cool down completely.
7. Cool down and Eat!

And that is it! That is how easy these cookies are to make, and the combination of colors and flavors are endless, I will definitely be sure to share more of these for you to bake and enjoy at home.
TIPS FOR PERFECT COOKIES
- Always use food-safe edible colors and flavoring . I personally love the Cake Flora Gel Colors and Flavor Nation for the flavors.
